Jokae’s Literary Event

On behalf of Jokae’s African American Bookstore, authors N’Tyse, Lesley E. Hal, and Stacey L. Ford, I (Shawanda Williams) would like to ask for your participation in our first annual “Buy A Book Campaign.” We are encouraging avid readers, book clubs, authors, aspiring writers, and those alike, to come out and support this phenomenal literary event taking place May 3rd, 2008 at Jokaes book store in Oak Cliff. We are challenging everyone, young and old, to come out, and buy a book. We are also asking those that don’t read, to make it the day that they start.
While the main objective of this campaign is to highlight our Dallas local authors as well as express the concerns many are having regarding the closures of our Black bookstores, I believe this event will also serve as a positive example set forth by all parties involved and attending. Please help us spread the message. It’s time we grow our minds, nurture our souls, and pride ourselves of the greatest gift one could have. The gift of READING!
