16 days and counting to the release of ONE NIGHT WITH YOU
Today I went to the State Fair of Texas with Michelle. We rode the DART train which is an experience in itself. Once there we headed for Fletcher’s Corny Dog stand. In Charleston they are called corn dogs. I found this out while doing research for IF YOU WERE MY MAN.
When we were leaving a young woman stopped me and said I looked familiar, but she knew I wasn’t who she thought I was. Yes, you guessed it. She thought I was Francis Ray, the author. We had a big laugh and she told me why she started reading romances – a co-worker was always reading them. I pretty much started the same way. My co-workers were talking about SHANNA.
I’d love to hear what started you reading romance novel, what was the first book, and what keeps you reading romances?
Hugs,
Francis

Hi,
I was about 15/16 when I started reading romance books. I was working at a library and read many different genre books. When I finally got to the romance books, I knew they were for me.
Why do I continue to read romance?
Because there is passion, humor, life, love, drama….. Some of these things we lack in our lives and some we have in abundance. The romance novel can pull you in and let you envision all of those things!
Tiffany,
You were a very young romance reader. LOL
I’m sure all the romance writers will give you a great huge hug for all your support thought the years. We can’t make it without the fans.
When BET made the movies I started buying the books to see how close they were to the stories and I’ve been hooked since. Looking forward to One Night With You.
Hi Lareeta,
Thank you for the lovely comment. I’m so happy that the movie allowed you to become a fan.
Thank you so much for the supprt.
My mother started me reading romance. I think it was True Romance a magazine. Harlequin romances were next when I was about 13. I would sneek them in from the book mobile( a mobile library that would come to my neighborhood). I was sitting in 8th grade music class and got snagged by my teacher reading a story by Charlotte Lamb and my teacher took it from me and read the back cover and told me I could have it back after she was done reading it.lol
The sad thing about it was that I didn’t realize that there were any black romance authors until I saw Ms. Jackson’s Durango Affair sitting on the shelf at a local suppermarket in 2006. My first romance I read by Ms. Ray was Heart of A Falcon. I’ve been addicted every since.
I can’t wait to read One Night With You!
